Yes frunk wings. Completely impractical but if you need your Countach to be practical, then you need a better butler.

The wings? Yes. But the Countach? Ever seen one in person? I assure you it’s amazing.

I had heard those shnoz wings were functional - nose got light at speed. But I agree - not a good look.

I’ve heard some say they helped reduce front end lift, others say it was so poorly designed that it made lift worse somehow. But the story I most believe is that it started out with some grey market Countach importer trying to convince the feds the wing was the real front crash structure, and therefore avoid the giant black rubber bumpers. Though this new evidence of the white car with mini front wing is shaking me to my core countach beliefs.

The wing is actually there to meet front bumper height laws. Downforce was just a handy bonus.

The black wings. Countach is a stunning vehicle of the highest order.

The first time I saw one in the metal, some fifteen years ago, I found the car to be astonishingly small. In particular the front wheels look absolutely minuscule.
(By the way, I have several old Minis – with 10" steelies, of course – so it is not as if I can only think of wheels in terms of 17".)

Maybe the smaller size was an attempt to reduce the chances of that wing becoming a pedestrian slicer?
I wonder if the front wing was part of the “Walter Wolf” package that also gave the Countach the spats, the bigger wheels and the P7s (which required some geometry changes to the suspension).
Also, I read somewhere that, back in the day, the person in charge of the developing the hideous front bumpers, side strakes etc was a certain Horacio Pagani.
Among other things, of course; the man does have talent, even if the looks of his cars are an acquired taste, to put it midly.
Interestingly the original LP500 prototype was an extremely handsome design. Pity the production version needed those air intakes.
